What People Say

I like that it was about something that happened in real life. It was interesting as it was a real thing that happened. We’re learning about the war so it was interesting. It’s one of my favourite topics, so I really enjoyed it.

I'm Kate Cleaver

The author

Originally journalist-trained, over the years I’ve worked as a Press Officer for several health charities as well as ITV Anglia, Comic Relief, the Department for International Development and the National Maritime Museum.

I’ve had articles published in regional magazines, and a few have made their way into the national press, including The Times, The Daily Mail and The Spectator.

Luke and the Lighthouse is my first book.

I’ve always loved lighthouses for;

  • The courage symbolised by those distinctive red and white, sea-facing towers.

  • The stories of the families who lived often isolated lives in and around them, all over the world.
